Just wondering about different people's different views on the acceptable age gap between a couple.
My mother is 6 years younger than my father, and between you and me, I already think there's a little generation gap between them (lol).
A 6 year age gap is surprisingly a very common number among my parent's generation. The age difference between my friends' parents is about roughly 5. 6 or 7 years.
Why? Guys don't dedicate themselves to the army for so long. Why the big age gap?
My friend once asked me what's my acceptable range. For me, the max is 4 years. Then she asked if the 4 years was a plus or minus, or plus and minus?
Until I'm at least 28, that 4 years is definitely a plus. My mother once warned me not to date a younger guy, and I'm spreading this to all the females out there. Most younger guys have not yet matured (guys mature later in the first place) so if you date a younger guy, you're just giving yourself more things to worry about. He may not know what he's done wrong, but to you maybe his actions are irresponsible and insensitive. Just a heads up.
I think the age gap also depends on your age. For example, I think a 18 year old guy with a 16 year old girl is unacceptable. 16!! It's almost pedophilloic, despite the mere 2-year-age-gap. However, a 28 year old with a 26 year old seems normal, nothing wrong.
Let's widen the age gap. A 34 year old guy with a 28 year old girl seems acceptable, no?
How about a 20 year old guy with a 14 year old girl? Disgusting! Immoral!!
I read the news today about a former teacher being arrested for having sex (repeatedly) with a 13 years old boy. They didn't specify the teacher's gender (oh, the horror). Let's assume it's a female teacher.
Why? Really, why?? Sexual frustration? Oh, I'm sure there're a lot of (older) men out there happy to assist you. But a 13-year-old? Seriously? Disgusting.
Ugh this post is not going the original direction I intended.
I guess the moral of the story is AGE IS DAMN IMPORTANT. Especially when your partner is still a preteen.
