Downloading PSPP

Hey guys just wanted to write quick and easy instructions on how to download and work PSPP on Windows.

I have a statistics assignment due this Friday and SPSS is too $$ so the teachers recommended the free software PSPP that is capable of basic statistics functions. I struggled for 2 hours trying to work that thing. I'm using MacBook Air but I use Parallels for Windows 8.

DOWNLOADING

1. Go to https://www.gnu.org/software/pspp/get.html and download the latest version of PSPP. (The Mac download is too complicated so I went for Windows).

2. Save and run it.

HOW TO USE

The raw data they gave us was in the format of excel. Microsoft excel is not compatible with PSPP, sadly.

1. Download LibreOffice.

2. Use LibreOffice to open the .xls / .xlsx file.

3. Save file as .ods / .csv format.

4. Open PSPP and choose "Import file..", "all files" and click on your above saved file.

5. VOILA!

Note: Microsoft's version of .csv is not compatible with PSPP and it'll just end up with only one line of data.

I did a test independent sampling test and it worked fine. Okay fellow PL2131 students! Let's work hard for our assignment! (If you have any clue what to do please help I'm so lost...)
