Hey guys just wanted to write quick and easy instructions on how to download and work PSPP on Windows.
I have a statistics assignment due this Friday and SPSS is too $$ so the teachers recommended the free software PSPP that is capable of basic statistics functions. I struggled for 2 hours trying to work that thing. I'm using MacBook Air but I use Parallels for Windows 8.
DOWNLOADING
1. Go to https://www.gnu.org/software/pspp/get.html and download the latest version of PSPP. (The Mac download is too complicated so I went for Windows).
2. Save and run it.
HOW TO USE
The raw data they gave us was in the format of excel. Microsoft excel is not compatible with PSPP, sadly.
1. Download LibreOffice.
2. Use LibreOffice to open the .xls / .xlsx file.
3. Save file as .ods / .csv format.
4. Open PSPP and choose "Import file..", "all files" and click on your above saved file.
5. VOILA!
Note: Microsoft's version of .csv is not compatible with PSPP and it'll just end up with only one line of data.
I did a test independent sampling test and it worked fine. Okay fellow PL2131 students! Let's work hard for our assignment! (If you have any clue what to do please help I'm so lost...)

GUYS.
Singapore Airlines is having a HUGE SALE ERMAGAWD HUGE GRAB IT PEOPLE.
(From Singapore only I think)
It only costs $500++ to travel to Taipei which is cheaper than Scoot the budget airlines ARE YOU KIDDING ME I LOVE SIA. Hands down best air service ever. (I fly a lot. Trust me. *winks*)
$1,600+ per pax for a one-way trip from Singapore to AMERICA!! My parents suddenly want to go America now. XD
I'VE BEEN PRAYING FOR SIA SALE FOR GOD KNOWS HOW LONG THANK YOU LORD THANK YOU I LOVE SINGAPORE AIRLINES!! *Sorry for the caps. I'm really excited. I'm high maintenance and am so sick of taking budget.*
I'm always the one in the airplane who gets the dirty seat (who knows spilt what on the seat & they couldn't clean it up in time so they just put a blanket over the seat for me to sit on. True story from Vietnam Airlines Jan 2015) and the dirty table (split coffee I hope) and is stuck between at least two babies. I have terrible airplane luck.
Okie bye enjoy your non-budget-flight holidays!
Update: Apparently there are a lot of limitations to the sale that my Dad didn't read and just upped and bought 4 tickets.
1. Sale ends 31st March and you have to use the tickets this year
2. Maximum 7-day travel
3. Can only travel with more than 2 people at the same time (same flights)
Which is the complete opposite of what my family wanted... Basically we spent $2000++ to enjoy a plane ride and nothing else much. Ugh.

Interesting Hair Observation + Filler Girlfriend
Hi guys~ So 3 months ago I dyed my hair dark red-purple-brown colour (it was dark purple on the packaging though) and now the colour has faded to a lighter brown. My roots are completely black so the distinction between the dyed and undyed parts are pretty obvious.
When the hairs drop I realised something: the hairs that drop nowadays have a very small black part as compared to the hairs still hanging on to my scalp. That means that three months ago, a little while after I first dyed my hair, the singular hair follicle had already decided that "NO I AIN'T GONNA GROW NO MORE" but hung on until 3 months later before it finally dropped.
The time difference between growth stump (does that equate to follicle death? Idk.) and hair fall can range from a few days to a few months like wow. Ahahaha just a really random observation that intrigued me. It's like the hair had already decided a few months ago that it was gonna drop. So no matter what kind of shampoo you use (hair fall etc) cannot really do much to change the follicle's mind I guess. Maybe the shampoo causes the hair to hang on longer. Who knows (well, scientists do).
Anyway. My friend recently entered this "labelled-casual-but-acts-committed" relationship with a guy who broke up with his fiance just a few months ago. He kept saying they were casual but he acted like her boyfriend and he kept giving mixed signals and really confused her. He liked to cuddle and they met up more than once a week and chat every single day... They both admitted to feelings for the other but he had a lot of excuses to keep the relationship casual. Casual my ass. She was confused and undecided for many months because she really liked him but knew that the 'relationship' would never go anywhere... She finally decided to limit their interactions and PUT THAT GUY IN HIS PLACE. You go, girl.
Anyway she sent me a webpage that perfectly described their relationship and I wanna share with all of you.
Alright that's all I have to say. BUH BYE GUYS.
Okay bye.

Girls. Guys. Don't become someone's Filler okay. You're worth way more than that. *sentimental me coming through MOVE* My friend made the choice to be able to tell the guy, "I'm no a la carte. I'm all or nothing."
She seems a lot happier once she got through that. This is something you have to work through yourself, because a few months back when she told me and her other friends about this guy, we all thought that she should dump his ass but she was the one who could make the final call. Only her. The most we could do was support whatever decision she made and let her rant. (It was really interesting to me, like a serial drama. xD)
(づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ ...come lemme give you xoxo HAHA... (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
〜( ̄▽ ̄〜)(〜 ̄▽ ̄)〜 ...do da wave... PARTAY GUYS!

Eye Candy
Hey guys finally updating after so long~ Totally using this to procrastinate~ (I have a 30-min presentation tomorrow I am so screwed)
Anyway a few months back, I finally had my first eye candy... If you can even call him that because I only saw the guy once on the internal shuttle bus and I never saw him again. NUS is way too big and overpopulated.
I feel like I am legit biologically wired differently, like there're a few missing nerve cells to connect my two hemispheres. I don't know. Most of the time I am able to step back and, while I'm feeling certain emotions, I'm also evaluating the cause of these emotions and be like "what the heck brain, WHY??" I have had a few small crushes that lasted for a couple of days only. My biggest crush lasted for... 2 years (?) on-off? And even then, he was not my eye candy. I was like "what the heck, why. No. No, brain. STOP" the ENTIRE time. I was conflicting with myself.
When my friends pointed out their eye candy to me, I only saw a face. Like I am logically processing, hmm, yes, that eye-nose-mouth-face proportion seems to be socially acceptably attractive... But I never felt the actual attraction you know. Maybe my standards for eye candies is too high. XD
This guy, let's call him A. I was on the shuttle bus D2 going from U-Town to Faculty of Science because I had a class there, when A boarded the bus too. I was seated down at the window seat and the seat beside me was empty. It was during the lunch rush hour when other people filed into the bus too. I had almost immediately seen him the moment he boarded the bus and I totally prayed,
"PLEASE DON'T SIT BESIDE ME I WANNA STARE AT YOUR FACE PLEASE."
But alas, he started walking towards the empty seat. "PLEASE PLEASE NO OH CRAP NO."
And when he sat down beside me, I WAS SO SAD. I mean, if he were standing a respectable distance away I could stare at him and pretend I was staring off into space or staring outside the window or something, but I can't stare at him when he's sitting beside me!!! That's way-too-obvious creepy. D':
The whole ride I forced myself to stare out the window and face the other way because if I even so much as used my phone I would be so tempted to peek GAHHH. Worst first eye candy experience.
We got off at the same stop but he walked away so fast. *sigh* I never saw him again. *RIP first eye candy*
I think he was Eurasian. I don't really remember. I don't remember his face. But I do remember that when he sat down beside me, I was thinking to myself, "hey, he smells like a Barbie doll." Which is both very memorable (come on, who smells like a Barbie doll naturally) and a huge turn off (dolls are creepy, so by smell association...).
Okay bye~

NUS Sem 1 Year 1 + Randomness
So.... I'm still alive. Yay~
Semester 1 of my first year in NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is almost over! Right now I'm on my study break and final examinations are coming soon. How fast. It feels just like yesterday when I was wondering when my classes will first start.
At least one thing has improved so far: my typing. I'm typing a lot faster now and with more accuracy. xD
So FASS is trying to implement a partial liberal arts system where before you major, you have no compulsory or pre-allocated modules. Good news is, you are free to take whatever module you want~ Bad news is, you have to bid for EVERYTHING. The bidding system is so tedious. For FASS students we have 600 faculty points and 400 other points. Good luck bidding for more popular courses that can go up to 300+ points for one module.
In order to graduate with a degree from FASS, we need to take 2 General Education modules, 1 Singapore Studies module, 2 breadth modules, 3 faculty exposure modules, 7 unrestricted modules (which can be used for minors), 15 major modules for bachelor and another 8 more major modules for honours. Each module is about 4 MCs (module credit).
To graduate, we need
BA- 120 MCs and CAP 2.0
BA (Hons) or BSocSci (Hons) - 160 MCs and CAP 3.2- (optional Honours thesis)
This semester I'm taking
1. Introduction to Philosophy (PH1102E)
2. Einstein's Universe and Quantum Weirdness (PC1325)
3. Introduction to Public Speaking (GEM2027)
4. Environmental Biology (GEK1515)
5. South Asia: People, Culture, Development (SN1101E)
1&5 are FASS mods and I'm taking them to fulfil exposure modules requirement. 3&4 are general education modules, one arts and one science and I'm taking 2 as my breadth module (from physics department). I wanted to try more FASS modules but the bid points were too damn high and I couldn't get what I wanted. Philosophy cost 300+ bid points! That's more than half of my 600 faculty point! The rest all cost only 1 bid point each though... I'm saving up for semester 2.
In FASS you have to declare a major latest by year 2 and earliest year 1 semester 2. Most majors don't have any prerequisites but for the one I'm interested in, Psychology, requires at least a B- in two of its introduction modules.
I wanted to bid for Psychology modules but they were too popular and cost too much. T^T
So I'm saving up for next semester!
If you really need more time, you can appeal to the school admin and ask to extend time before you declare your major. Of course, then you'll have to plan your timetable carefully because you would miss one semester of your major modules. And if you don't graduate in time, the government's subsidy will run out... and you'll run out of $$$.
For now the expenses are about S$4k/sem and I'm using my Dad's CPF to pay first. I'll have to return the money to him, with interest, when I start working of course, but honestly I'd much rather pay interest to my Dad than to banks.
To learn more about CPF Education Scheme, click here.
To be honest though, I don't really know what I'm doing in university. I have no motivation to study because I don't know what I'm studying for. I'm just going along with the paper chase because I don't know what I want.
I've tried working in retail, admin, charity organisations etc and I cannot survive for longer than 1 month in any of them.
I constantly put myself in a position where I have many options to choose from... Maybe that's my security. On one hand I have many, many opportunities. On the other I have too many options and I don't know how to choose. I really want to find a job that I love and I would be happy to do for the rest of my life but really, so far there is nothing I can do for the rest of my life.
No joke, I even get tired of eating sometimes (mostly during long holidays) and I just stop eating because I don't like eating anymore. And eating is a necessity essential for my survival.*sighhh~*
What to do.
On a side note, I really think that I was born 30. I'm only 19 and I feel like birthdays have lost their meaning because I have celebrated too many and they just don't feel as special.
I'll tell you a secret. I'm actually 50-year-old fabricating the life of a 19-year-old for my own amusement. And if you see me outside it's because I am really, really, prodigiously good at make-up. Also botox. My friends can testify to this.
-just kidding-
Even my sense of humor is old. Oh well. Off to knit christmas mittens.
Side-side note: I reallllyyy love christmas and I have no idea why. We don't even have snow in Singapore. Or cold weather, or egg nogs or roasted turkeys or nutcrackers or plain old fireplaces... Landed property is scarce. :'(
We do have the heck a lot of chocolates though~ Mmmh~
